Managing requirements for product development at the concept and product requirements stage; The requirements for product must be developed early on. This presentation will deal with developing a scope and requirements for product certification for hardware products in the consumer, industrial, medical, oil and gas, and clean energy space. Clear direct requirements early in product development speed and ease your product to market. Conversely failure to understand certification, testing, and reliability needs early will result in failure of the product and likely failure of your company.  Take the easy and direct path in product certification and testing requirements early. This also allows budgets and timelines for testing and certification to be identified and committed early in the product development. Background:

For over 20 years, Flex’s facility in Austin, Texas, has provided new product introduction services for industry-leading customers. The Austin Product Innovation Center specializes in advanced engineering and supply chain support for the most complex technology, including both large and small form factor printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and systems. Using a “factory within a factory” approach, the Center’s team of dedicated, highly skilled experts in technical program management, process engineering, test engineering, and new materials acquisition is able to support the most demanding customer development projects.

The Center has completed renovations and upgrades to meet increasing customer needs for new technology deployment, advanced inspection, early functional testing, analytical equipment, process/test engineering lab instrumentation, and flexible systems assembly capabilities. The facility has also implemented a comprehensive security solution to meet the demand for high-security and high-confidentiality customer build requirements. An automated, flexible wall partition system that can be deployed within 15 minutes has also been installed. Build areas can be configured and armed separately, activating access via biometric control systems. The new solution provides enhanced control for highly sensitive intellectual property and new product builds, without the costs associated with a separate, fixed-structure facility.

The Center provides capabilities and expertise in computer numerical control (CNC) machining, anodizing, advanced automation, laser assembly, optics, and radio frequency (RF) technologies. Additionally, the Center provides aftermarket services, repair, and forward/reverse logistics with dedicated program management, operations, materials, and engineering resources.

TechShop provides access to instructional classes, events, and over $1 million worth of professional equipment and software. Each of our facilities includes laser cutters, plastics and electronics labs, a machine shop, a woodshop, a metalworking shop, a textiles department, welding stations, class and conference rooms, and much more. Members have open access to design software, featuring the Autodesk Design Suite. Huge project areas with large work tables are available for completing projects and working with others.

Our incredible community of members and staff provide inspiration and support for creating projects. We offer comprehensive instruction and coaching from expert staff to ensure you have a safe, meaningful and rewarding experience. Most importantly, you can explore the world of making in a collaborative and creative environment.

We also offer a number of additional services to help engage people in the act of making.
