Seeking a Senior Quality Engineer with strong skills in process development, field failure, internal failure data collection and analysis, product failure analysis, and reliability testing and prediction.  This individual will interact with Development Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to analyze warranty return and reliability data, identify and improve deficient processes, enhance test criteria, and establish performance metrics to improve products. He/She will be a key member of the Corporate Quality Department, reporting to the Senior Quality Engineering Manager. This individual will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and other areas supporting process and product improvements across all product lines.

 ** Functional Responsibilities **

- Support tactical problem solving through the application of root cause analysis and preventive action implementation.

- Serve as Quality focal for assigned product line to drive improvement across current and new products.

- Support Continuous Improvement efforts across departments in Reliability, Lean, and other initiatives within Manufacturing and R&D.

- Implement tools for improving product reliability and quality on new products using FMEA, risk assessments, and process maps.

- Support site wide customer issue escalation process and Product Support Engineer program.

- Analyze RMA and warranty return data to monitor and report on overall effectiveness of product testing and reliability strategies.

- Support reporting and analysis of key quality metrics.

- Engage with customers to understand end-user issues, drive solutions, and closed loop communications.

- Assess, evaluate, report, and document predicted MTBFs for certain products.

 ** Position Requirements **

- At least seven years experience in electronic assembly R&D, and/or Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of three years in Quality or Reliability Engineering.

- Hands on problem solving skills and experience utilizing 8-D methods in electronics or related industry.

- Proven experience utilizing preventative quality tools.

- Experience in the electronics industry, preferably in PCB assembly and testing.

- Demonstrated success leading complex quality projects.

- Working experience using and organizing quality metrics.

- Skilled at Excel tools including macros and programming capabilities.

- Proven capability of effectively utilizing test and measurement HW and SW products preferred.

- Experience with direct customer interactions and/or account quality management is highly desirable.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering).

• Preparation of submission documentation for obtaining and maintaining medical device approvals worldwide:  510k, PMA, PMA Supplements, 30-Day Notices, device technical files, Change Notices to the Notified Body.
• Maintenance and audit of the device tracking database per 21CFR821.
• Preparation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for regulatory affairs processes.

•  5 years medical device regulatory affairs experience

Performs quality inspection functions including receiving/incoming inspection of sheet metal and machined parts, and electromechanical components.

KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES /DUTIES

• Collect inspection data, process times, test data, and other quality metrics.
• Generates detailed inspection reports and corrective action reports both internally, to suppliers, and to customers through quality documents, data charts and other related reports.
• Interfaces with all internal departments, suppliers and customers on technical issues and ISO related functions.
• May support ISO standards and other quality initiatives through internal and outside audits along with other quality activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  High School Diploma/equivalent.
• Some technician course work/AA degree preferred.
• 3+ years technician level experience working as RI inspector.
• Ability to read detailed engineering drawings, blueprints and schematics.
• Basic math abilities along with knowledge of GD&T.
• Strong mechanical inspection skills.
• IPC, ASQ or other certifications a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

• RI experience related to semiconductor capital equipment or related industry a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications and database software.

The link between ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or sustainability is not always clear.  Practitioners may be implementing a management system based on ISO, but may not be aware of how to use sustainability metrics as a tool to demonstrate commitment to P3 (people, planet, and profits), otherwise known as the Triple Bottom Line (TBL).

This session will be presented as a case study – how Silicon Laboratories, a silicon chip producer, incorporates ISO into their sustainable practices and vice versa (sustainability into ISO) – what activities are being investigated and/or undertaken; what measures are being used to gauge progress; and what actions have been taken by management.

The focus will be on building/facilities rather than chip production, to provide a more widely applicable study that any attendee will benefit from.

Using these examples, the attendee then can examine his/her own systems, to identify and improve sustainability implementation practices.
