John R. Cole Passed Away

I am sorry to report that John R. Cole a long time member of ASQ Austin Section 1414 has passed away in March. Services were held on Wednesday, March 16, at Restland Coppell Memorial Chapel with interment at the Rolling Oaks Memorial Center.
John R. Cole, age 68, passed away on Sunday morning, March 13, 2011. John was born on March 11, 1943 to JR and Kathryn (Rogers) Cole in Spur, Texas. He grew up in north-west Texas graduating from Big Spring High school in 1960. John served in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966 while stationed at Vandenberg AFB, California. He graduated from SMU in 1970 with a BA degree and Texas Tech in 1975 with a MBA degree. John was employed with Texas Instruments for 30 years. He then pursued other opportunities with Teccor Electronics, Solectron, and Elcoteq. John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Sue Cole, his daughter, Randa Lynn Haase and her husband David William Haase and their daughter Rachel Ann Haase of St Louis, sisters Jean Kay Cole and Rita Jannette Cole of Canyon, Texas.

ASQ Austin Wins Two (2) Section Level Awards for FY 2009-10
On March 21, 2011 ASQ Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin sent notices out to the current Section Chair, John Hartzler, and QMP Chair, Todd Minnick, that ASQ Austin Section 1414 had won two (2) FY 2009-10 Section Level Awards.
TOTAL QUALITY
The Total Quality Award was granted to Section 1414 for FY 2009-10 due to them making timely submissions on the following:
- Required officers and committee positions
- Audited annual financial report
- Annual business plan and budget
- Completed prior year business plan with 75% of goals obtained
SILVER EXCELLENCE
The Silver Excellence Award was granted to Section 1414 for FY 2009-10 due to them making timely submissions on the following:
- Required officers and committee positions
- Audited annual financial report
- Annual business plan and budget
In addition to submitting the required information listed above, Section 1414 exceeded the ASQ average in two (2) of the following categories: member retention, satisfaction and loyalty.
